Battleships: General Quarters
First, you will be prompted to type in your name at Battleships, and then off you go. You have a 10 by 10 fields large playing field in front of you as well as five different ships on the left side - one mine clearer, a submarine, a frigate, a Battleships as well as an aircraft carrier. You have to place these ships on the playing field. For this, you click on them one by one, and then click on an empty space on the field. Using the left and right arrow keys, you can still change the orientation of the ship. If you have placed all five ships on the playing field, the game begins. You now see two fields - one with your ships as well as an empty field, in which your opponent's ships are hidden. When it is your turn, you have to click on the opponent’s playing field with your mouse, and try to hit the ships of your opponent. If you see or hear an explosion, you have scored a hit and are allowed to shoot again straight away. Your first officer then reports all the hits and lets you know, beaming with joy, when the opponent’s ship has sunk. With a grim expression, he also tells you when your opponent was able to hit one of your ships or has even sunk it. But you also see this as well on a small screen on the left side. Now it is up to you to aim precisely and hit the enemy ships and make them sink. When you consider that the smallest ship, the minesweeper, is just two fields big, you will certainly come up with a good tactic to scan the entire battlefield for ships.
